Why is District 15 among the most sought-after places to live?

Stats shows that 1 in 3 Singaporeans intend to buy a property in Singapore’s one and only recognized coastal beach district.

From 2007 to 2010, D15(East Coast/Marine Parade) remained as the Top Resale District in Singapore for 4 years consecutively

Today, it still remains among the Top 3 most sought-after locations besides D9 and D10 that home buyers find desirable and comfort in.

Let us examine WHY

HERITAGE & HISTORY

An area traditionally associated with the Eurasian and Peranakan communities. You will find places like Katong & Joo Chiat with rich heritage and cultural mix from its food to the conserved shophouses. Katong was also the location of many villas and mansions of the wealthy elite in the late 19th to the mid-20th centuries. It was home to the earlier scions of the Englishmen Lord Mountbatten of Burma and Sir Manasseh Meyer. Its illustrious residents include the ancestral family of Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. The former President S.R Nathan lived in Katong in his primary residence on Ceylon Road.

LOCATION

The term ‘Stay East, Live Central’ holds much truth when we examine the East Coast. It is essentially mins drive away to many relevant locations in Singapore. You could reach these places with a short drive away.

  • Changi Airport
  • Central Business District
  • Singapore Sports Hub
  • Gardens By the Bay East
  • Paya Lebar Quarter & Mall

THOMSON EAST COAST LINE – MAJOR BOOST

Consider this a major bonus for the residents of East Coast with the announcement of Thomson East Coast line back in 2014. For past decades since the birth of MRT in 1987, East Coast area has never had a MRT line to serve the residents. People are used to getting on by numerous bus services which ply from Bedok to Kent Ridge cutting through Shenton Way. This TEL line will be a major transportation network that runs from East to the North in a L shaped line. Residents can now commute to Shenton Way and Orchard Road easily once the network completes in 2023/24.

EAST COAST, A FOOD PARADISE

Food glorious food! Finding the best makan is the Singaporean favorite past-time. No other place in Singapore can offer you a wide variety of local delights found in one stretch of road from Katong to Joo Chiat to Haig Road to Bedok to East Coast Lagoon and back! If you are someone that eats out everyday, there isn’t a day where you need to repeat your menu!

BEACH & PARK LIFESTYLE

How many can really boast that I can walk to the beach from my home? With all that food, one also need to exercise. Living in East Coast allows you that flexibility. A short stroll, jog or cycle will get you to the beach. Take in sea breeze, clean air and enjoy plenty of green spaces around. Relax and take your mind away from the concrete jungle and hectic urban life. Now…that’s life but at affordable cost.

Above are the Top 5 reasons why you should be looking at East Coast. It’s not hard to go wrong if you were to pick a place here in District 15.
